Chinese Fishing Nets

Watercolor on paper
15 x 20 in.
A scene from Fort Kochi beach in Kerala. These fishing nets are a popular tourist attraction in Kochi ( Cochin). It is believed that these nets are chinese in origin and that the nets were introduced by the chinese explorer Zheng He. The nets were brought to Kerala between 1350 and 1450.
I did this from a photograph that I took during my recent trip to Kerala.

Kolkata Street

Watercolor, 15 x 20 in.

Hi all! Had been to kerala last week. And what a proper time it was to visit such an exotic place...i.e., during the monsoon! Its truly God's own country! I've captured many pics of rain drenched streets and the backwaters and the beach. Enough to keep me busy for now! Will post them here as soon as I paint. Have shared some of those pics on my Facebook page which could be viewed by FB users here.
For now I'm posting one of my personal favorite watercolor paintings. This is a street scene from Kolkata, capital city of the state of West Bengal and one of the metropolitan cities of India. The reference photograph for this was provided by Shubhangi Athalye. Thanks so much Shubhangi!

Bangalore Group Show

My group show with Prabal and Praveen was great! I wish to thank both of them. They were very kind and helpful and I really had a wonderful time with them!
The show was inaugurated by Prabal's and Praveen's family members along with some senior artists who were also present there. Though there were lots of visitors at the show on all days, very few were interested in buying. Also we felt that our show wasn't very well promoted and we couldn't reach out to many people. Anyway, as this was our first show in this city, we learnt a lot from this experience. Planning to do some more shows together! During the show some of my favorite paintings got sold and I'm so thankful to my buyers.
