Traffic near Mayo Hall

Watercolor on Arches CP Paper,
14 x 21 inches

This is one of the important landmark buildings in Bengaluru - the Mayo Hall. I did this from my reference photograph that I took when I lived there for a couple of years. The building was painted in white then. Recently it was changed to red, which might look good to people, but to us painters, particularly watercolorists, it might not be so because the red sometimes feels chalky/opaque and may get muddy thereby losing the essence of watercolors- transparency and vibrancy.

Esplanade Traffic, Kolkata

Watercolor on Saunders paper
9 x 21 inches

The day was overcast following a cyclone on the eastern coast, when I clicked this reference photo, but what attracted me was the hustle and bustle at this place known as Esplanade, in Kolkata. The yellow taxis added some color to the scene!
Enjoy your weekend :)

Twilight Hour

Watercolor on paper
11 x 15 inches

For reasons unknown, my camera couldn't capture the exact hue of ultramarine blue which is the major color in this painting. I got problems with the values as well! I have tried very hard in photoshop to match this image with the original hues of the painting. Believe me, the actual painting looks much better!
