Painting Plein air

En plein air, Lal Bagh Botanical Garden, Bangalore
Watercolor on Canson paper

A few days back I was in Bangalore for delivering 2 of my earlier oil paintings to an art collector whom I had met last year. He had bought a couple of my paintings then.
While in Bangalore, I got a chance to paint plein air with my friend Prabal Mallick. Though exciting, painting on location also presented some difficulties. Its really very different from working from the comforts of a studio and reference photographs. I hope you like the result!

My sold oil paintings

  1. There is a freshness here and you captured the sunlight so well, Ramesh! Did you men those two images are really oil paintings? Incredible!

    1. Thank you very much Marie! Before I took up painting with watercolors, I used to paint very realistically in oil!

  2. I love the botanical gardens, Ramesh and I think the two you sold are remarkable. They remind me of the tulip fields in Holland, and the Island of Gan in the Maldives. I wrote a story about the latter, "A Garland of Islands" which is the translation of Maldives.

    1. Thank you Mr.John! The botanical garden was indeed a good place to paint! Hadn't it been for the rainy weather soon after I finished this one, I would have had a go at another one!
