Market, Surat

Watercolor on Paper
14 x 19 inches

I'm leaving tonight for Surat to attend my cousin's wedding. Will be back after 10 days. Surat is located in Gujarat state in central-western part of India and its a very old city. It even finds a mention in one of the short stories of Leo Tolstoy.
This scene and my last cityscape post titled 'Twilight hour' are from the same place. I took the reference photos when I visited Surat last year.

  1. Beautifully done. You have highlighted the bright colors so well!

  2. Hi, Ramesh,
Lovely work, particularly, colour use is beautiful.
    Kind regards, Sadami

  3. Beautiful :) The yellow and orange add such warmth to the painting !

  4. Studio at the farm,
Thank you very much for appreciating!

    Dear Sadami,
Thank you so much! Always feel lovely to hear from you :)

    Hi Pragya,
Thanks a lot for liking this :)

  5. Wow!What a lovely cityscape.Great work on details.Just perfect.

  6. This is absolutely stunning. The subtle whites of the buildings against the yellow and orange of the market in the foreground really works. The picture just "jumped" off my blog list. Everything is harmonious..this is one of my favourtites I think!

  7. linda tela. Bom fim de semana. Marta

  8. Thanks a lot Yasha, Catherine, Marta and Shailesh for your kind comments!

  9. Hope you had a great time, Ramesh. It must be real hot there, at this time of the year!
The painting is lovely..I like the use of warm yellows with cool blues.
