Soft Pastels on Paper ( 15" x 20" )
Though soft pastels are easy to use, one drawback is that the finished work has to be immediately framed otherwise it could get smudged. And sometimes single matting is not enough while framing as I've experienced! Another problem is that while photographing, the vibrancy of some of the colors is not captured very well by the camera. Even after enhancing this image in photoshop, I'm not too happy with the result!
Your thumbnail of this painting was striking on my dashboard. Beautiful colors, very bright light! Bravo!
ReplyDeleteWell I think this is great! It is frustrating though when the photo turns out so different to the original. By the way, with my charcoal sketches I was told to use hairspray to fix it - it works so maybe you can test it out for yourself.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Annie!
ReplyDeleteThanks Liz!I have used fixatives but no hairsprays yet! Will give a try!
Hair spray is cheaper and better option. with fixative over years colors tend to get some darker tint where as hairspray doesnot chnage colors.Try Nova or v-john sprays availbale in local market
ReplyDeleteStunningly beautiful colors!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ajay! Will surely try the hairspray!

ReplyDeleteVery sweet, Ramesh..you creat magic with pastels! You didn't find fixatives at your art supplier? I got one for my pencil work and it works, only I have to be careful with it ! Once it left little blobs/droplets on a finished sketch...
ReplyDeleteThanks Rupesh!
ReplyDeleteHi Arti! As I said before, I've used fixatives but after using it, the smooth blending effect goes away and the painting is left with grainy spots!
ahhh, what a feeling you have portrayed in this. I could "soak up" the feeling in this painting all day.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing.
p.s. love your cows.
Thank you so much Sandy!Appreciate your comments!
ReplyDeleteso beautiful
ReplyDeleteThanks Aszera!
ReplyDeleteI like the scale of this piece. The forest seems so big, just like the world is so big, and we just little people in it. And yet, the bikers almost seem protected by the forest, I think it's the curvature of the trees. Just like we may be so small, but God is aware of us, and watches over us. Keep up the good work!
